Questions

Short answers to common questions. Still not sure? Call us.

Call (323) 423-0428
Are you open today? Are you open on Sundays?

Yes, we're open 7 days a week: Monday to Saturday 8 AM to 7 PM, and Sunday 8 AM to 4 PM. Holiday hours may change, so call ahead on holidays.

What do you buy, and what don't you take?

We buy California CRV cans and bottles: aluminum and bi-metal cans, plastic #1 through #7, glass, and wine and liquor bottles, boxes and pouches. We don't buy scrap metal. We can't take trash, wet or dirty loads, containers bought outside California, or city and utility property such as manhole covers or hydrant and streetlight parts.

How much do you pay for cans and bottles?

The CRV (California refund) is 5¢ for containers under 24 oz, 10¢ for 24 oz and larger, and 25¢ for wine and liquor boxes, bags and pouches (state values as of October 2026). By weight, we pay at least the state minimum per pound. Since January 1, 2026 that is $1.66 for aluminum, $1.46 for #1 PET plastic and $0.101 for glass, and every other material is in the price board and table on this page. The final price is set at the scale after we check the material.

Do you pay by count or by weight?

Both. Under state rules as of October 2026, you can ask us to count up to 50 containers of each material per transaction. Bigger loads are weighed and paid by the pound.

Is there a limit on how much I can bring?

For CRV, yes. Since July 9, 2026, state rules limit each person, per day, to 100 lb of aluminum, 100 lb of plastic, 2,000 lb of glass, 50 lb of bag-in-box and 25 lb of pouches or cartons. Splitting a bigger load into several trips isn't allowed.

Do I need ID?

Not for an everyday load of cans and bottles. Under state rules as of October 2026, if your CRV comes to $100 or more ($15 or more for boxes, pouches or cartons), we write a receipt with your name, signature and an ID number.

When do I get paid?

When you deliver them. The final price is set at the scale after we check the material.

Do you buy scrap metal, like copper?

No. We only buy cans and bottles with California CRV. We don't buy copper, brass, scrap aluminum, wire, stainless steel, iron or steel.

Should I crush my cans? How should I bring them?

Bring everything empty and dry, sorted by material (aluminum, bi-metal, each plastic number, glass), with no trash mixed in. Flattened cans are fine, but crushed blocks or pieces of bales can't be paid CRV. If other material is mixed into a load, you can sort it out before we weigh it; if not, the load is paid at a lower rate.

Do you take wine and liquor bottles, wine boxes and juice bottles?

Yes. Since 2024, wine and liquor bottles, pre-mixed cocktails and juice containers are part of California's CRV program. Wine and liquor boxes, bags and pouches pay 25¢ each (as of October 2026); bring a wine box complete, with the bag inside. Some bottles may not have a CRV label yet. If you're not sure, ask us.

Can I bring cans or bottles I bought in another state?

No. Only containers bought in California get the CRV refund, so we can't take cans or bottles from other states.

Where do I park? Do you have restrooms?

Pull into our gated lot at 181 E Vernon Ave, on Vernon at San Pedro St. Restrooms are available for customers.
